Skype Qik brand guidelines

Skype challenged it's product design and engineering teams to re-envision the product as a modern, simplified, mobile-first offering. They came up with Skype Qik, a video messaging app to capture and share spontaneous moments. There was a lot of discussion early on if the Skype logo would be featured on marketing assets, in the end we kept it for recognition.

 

Once we had a better sense of basics (like color and the Qik logo), we worked with a couple external agencies to move things forward (while we were in pre-production on the launch video). We thought we had everything locked down, presented to leadership, and then had to retool a few bits (part of the process). So after a few rounds of fine-tuning, Skype had a fun, more active, new sub-brand.
